IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS IF WPAU IS NOT WORKING

    Hi there

I've got 50+ WordPress sites running and for the majority, the Automatic Upgrade works flawlessly. On several, it appears that the hosting account / server configuration makes it difficult for the plugin to establish the correct Path to the WP installation.

That results in multiple error messages, failure to enter maintenance mode etc etc.

The solution is usually simple! At the "site FTP details" request screen, add the correct path... in the case of the site I've just upgraded a few minutes ago, it was in a subdirectory called "blog" and path was entered as:
    /public_html/blog/

Note: trailing slash at beginning and end of the path. All my sites are on servers using Cpanel and all have "public_html" as the web root directory. Your circumstances may vary...

Editing permissions to 777 should be a last resort. If you've given the plugin the site's FTP User ID and Password, that will almost always allow ALL required function to be performed!

    Hello again,

Below is the log for the upgradation

Task Description: Backs up all the current files from the wordpress installation
    Task Status: Failed
    Task Start Date: 2009-08-12 12:03:48
    Task End Date: 2009-08-12 12:03:48
    Task Log:

Creating files backup archive at wpau-files-bak-rGuhcarw.zip

    ...
    (Finally...)
    /wp-includes/post-template.php
    Adding File /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/blogsite/wp-includes/feed-rss.php to /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/blogsite/wp-includes/feed-rss.php
Could not archive the files PCLZIP_ERR_READ_OPEN_FAIL (-2) : Unable to open file '/home/xxxxxxx/public_html/blogsite/wp-cron.php' in binary read mode

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

    Thanks!
